Made up on 1 October 1940, it took part in Operation Barbarossa in the Ukraine up to the gates of Moscow; then in 1942, it fought in the Ukraine, on the Terek, falling back on Sebastopol, in Yugoslavia then in Hungary. These successes were reflected by the high number of Ritterkreuz awards. Its history is accompanied by a lot of illustrations, 360 photos and documents.
