The Infantry of the Line went through the upheavals of the last years of the Empire, from the Campaign for France to Waterloo, before changing radically in 1815 during the Second Restoration.
Indeed, momentarily, the regiments of the infantry disappeared, to the benefit of the departmental legions, before they donned the blue and bright red uniform that didn’t change until the Great War.
This book, a compilation of two files published in numbers 17 and 18 of the magazine SOLDAT is unpublished in France. The 120 plates drawn by André Jouineau and commented by Jean-Marie Mongin present the infantry soldiers as they were in Spain and those during the conquest of Algeria.
