On 6 June 1944, the 177 soldiers in the Keiffer Commando landed on French soil, but they weren’t the only French soldiers involved in Operation Overlord. At sea, the sailors embarked aboard on FNFL ships. And in the skies, about a hundred or so French pilots were also present. This book presents these men, their squadrons but also the Norman airfields they landed on. This lavishly illustrated book has lots of photos but also superb colour profiles of the aircraft.
The author, François Robinard has recently published with Editions Heimdal an important book called 50 aérodromes pour une victoire, juin-septembre 1944 (50 airfields for victory, June-September 1944). The aircraft profiles are by Jacques Clémentine.
